I was not expecting this sort of violation from a website which are collecting complaints of other companies.... Yes it is Boltaconsumer.com !
Please find the following link... Isn't it a copyright violation?
http://www.consumercomplaints.in
this is unbelievable..... nice work man
Typically Pakistani - take somebody elses idea and copy it. Did not even bother to change look of the website. Probably too lazy!!!!
Or r u a franchise of the indian website?
Is it BoltaConsumer.com of ours that proved to be a copy cat?
Well then. At least they could change the name to Boltacustomer.com or BoltaCustomer.pk.
Hahaha..........................funny isnt it
WoW Awsome..........No explaination yet .
Consumer complaints platforms are not new. A few weeks ago a visitor here posted a list of 42 consumer complaints portals where she had been posting her grievances regarding a popular international brand. Most of those 42 portals and some additional to that list were considered for the design and ultimately the simplest one was adopted for our audience.
Our objective is promoting a culture of sharing and documenting complaints in Pakistan. That is the single most important thing determining the success of this effort. The visual design of the platform is secondary in importance and is also likely to evolve over time.
We have been labeled “funny”, “copy cat”, “lazy”, and doing “copy right violations”. We respect those opinions and sentiments (true to the spirit of this platform), but we reserve the right not to engage into a discussion of why we do not agree with that (except, maybe, the "funny" bit). Think beyond the visual design and if you have suggestions to improve based on the Pakistani environment, we would always welcome that. In fact, several improvements are already under consideration.
If we are able to bring a cultural change which results in improved awareness amongst the consumers and result in better customer care, that, in our eyes, is the single most important criteria for the success of this idea. Everything else is secondary.
Feel free to agree, disagree, and criticize. But just don’t lose sight of the objective.
Sincerely,
The BoltaConsumer Team
Dear All,
First of all let me specify why we are no more unite, why we are simply a junkyard of this whole world because we never looks for the cause just the picture as it is seen, we even never tried to do which we call "apnay gereban mai jhakna".. If any of you is little aware (but more literate of using orkut, facebook and chat for fun) of world wide web or cyberworld then you could know the electronic world of wikis and blogs is recently being popular among the internet users. In broader term and for extensive use there are various CMS (Content Management System) like Joomla and DotNetNuke which can be used by anyone even you to publish your own website. So my dear respected friends.. there is no any copyright violation in using Visual / tecnical environments of these Wikis, Blogs and CMS. As they are not copyrighted in that manner which you guys are highlighting here.
Please support the positive cause.. criticize and resolve those matters that are making the country's environment difficult for our kids to breath in peace to feel and live in an independent way.
Please unite!
The only thing "typically Pakistani" here is the kind sir that posted this complaint here. Kindly read up on "copyright violations" with direct respect to the WWW and then start to voice your "opinion".
If any of the other people here who also have pointed fingers at this website still think that the design is a copyright violation, kindly step up, and provide a solution in the form of a new design.
You're either a part of the problem, or the solution. This website is providing a solution, you by posting such "complaints" remain a part of the problem unfortunately.
@Faizan
No one has complained about the concept being promoted by the website. We're all using it and this medium can only be beneficial for the pakistani consumer.
But you go on about copyright violations as though you are some sort of an expert. Well I am no expert on the issue but even with the basic knowledge that I have, I know that to copy or mimic another website is infringement of that websites copyright. It may not be the case in the minds of pakistanis but even under Pakistani law, this is an issue that can be covered under infringement of Copyright and Intellectual Property rights. I do know the man incharge of the IP (Intellectual Property) department of the Law Ministry in Karachi and I can assure you that if they could be bothered and had the time, they would take proceedings against the website. They have their time allocated against other bigger issues at the moment and it also depends on the party who's IP is being infringed to make the complaint before they take action. So please dont just have a rant about an issue without investigating it yourself first.
No one is questioning what the website is achieving and the site administrators are probably well aware that I have used the site probably more then anyone else here and on most occasions it has been used constructively and sensibly. However, just because the site is providing a good service, it does not mean that it is above the scrutiny of others, if it is judged to be in the wrong.
Read my original message and you will see that I did also ask the question whether the site was possibly a franchise?
No one needs to step up and provide a solution. That is what the owners/administrators of the site are there for. They have already posted a reply and for most, well certainly for me that is sufficient.
However, if you would like to have a detailed debate on ""copyright violations" with respect to WWW" , then do let me know and maybe I can enlighten you about the International Laws covering IP and not what is acceptable in Pakistan.
As far as the original complaint is concerned, I think as the administrators have mentioned in their reply, the design will evolve, even if it wasn't originally planned, now that the authenticity has been brought in to question, it certainly will now.
Bolta Consumer team, You should act up fast in changing up your website look at least. Agreed there are many complaints website but none of them look alike and same should be applied here. You can take similar clothes(i.e., Similar idea) but can't use the actual ones(color, format) without the real owner's permission.
Your idea of bringing this to Pakistan is appreciated but removing the "copying" factor would be better before this same thing becomes source of humiliation for every user, if gets pinpointed on www.customercomplaint.in
AND, WHY ARE YOU UNABLE TO WORK ON THAT VERIFICATION CODE ACCEPTANCE PROBLEM?
@Pakistani formerly BoltaConsumer
I am no expert, but given that I've been in the web design / development field since a decade now, I may have enough knowledge to speak on the subject.
You may "know people" incharge who know the stuff, but I know enough on my own alhumdolillah. :)
If this is an IP right issue, then I believe you as a "highly concerned" Pakistani should report it immediately! I believe your extremely long and irritated reply was supposed to prove your point, but maybe a bit more substance would suffice than a few hundred words the next time.
I would love to be enlightened on such laws and see which sections apply to the format of web pages unless they have been specifically patented by law.
Kindly visit 37signals.com, view all their products and their layouts.
Then visit www.clockingit.com, a free alternative to it, then visit www.pulseapp.com, and I would happily send you 100's of other such website of similar layout. These are for the most part based in the U.S. where you can be sued for even slapping someone if the other person wanted. I'm wondering how these website have survived?
I'm not talking about what's acceptable in Pakistan. I'm talking about whats acceptable generally. And if no one "needs to" provide a solution, then no one even "needs to" utilize the website if they're so against it.
Calm down, , you voiced your opinion, I voiced mine. Is nothing personal.
:)
@Faizan
Its nothing personal but you took specific exception to my original post, so unfortunately that in normal world makes it personal.
We all know someone as is the way in pakistan. But what I mentioned was a direct conversation about this subject/website with the person who is in charge of prosecution on IP issues based in karachi. So as the old saying goes, "it was straight from the horses mouth" and not hear say.
You may have designed websites for ten years!!! I am delighted for you. I wont go in to details of where I am coming from but, lets put it this way, I am fully aware of the web design business not just in Pakistan but also in Europe and USA. Web designers in Pakistan are ten to a penny and most start off with copying others work as the originality factor is just not there. Thats fine to start off with but aint really gonna get you anywhere is it with out originality.
With regards to web pages being patented, well this is where your knowledge lets you down despite ten years of web design. Under IP and copyright laws, a design or a logo etc does not have to be patented. It is sufficient to show ownership and use before anyone else used it. There is more to it but in simple terms that is what it means. The website in question with regards to this thread, clearly states on it that Copyrights are reserved and are ownership of that website. Now whether they have also copied someone else, I dont know. But it is sufficient to cause a doubt. Even if the website has been obtained from a free template, the doubt still remains. As Agrieved mentioned above "Your idea of bringing this to Pakistan is appreciated but removing the "copying" factor would be better before this same thing becomes source of humiliation for every user, if gets pinpointed on www.customercomplaint.in" not exactly the words I would have used but the message is the same.
@Pakistani formerly BoltaConsumer
Sigh... :)
If you want to make it personal then that is entirely your problem, not mine.
What would make it personal would be comments like the ones you put up anonymously and claim to be someone who's to be taken seriously without actually EVER giving real references.
You bring to the table the direct legal matter which as per your understanding makes this an actual copyright issue, which by the way if someone has not copyrighted, may be quite legally copyrighted / trademarked by another if the 1st party does not lay claim to it within an X number of months.
How's about this, you're entitled to your opinion, I am to mine.
I'm not budging, you don't need to either. :)
Designers in Pakistan are ten to a penny, surely, that,s what makes us SO approachable by the rest of the world, and that's why this so called 3rd world country and the "10 to a penny" guys are the ones that work on the websites of giants like JVC, Sony and hundreds of others, besides running the CMS systems for the likes of CNet.
I'm guessing by that comment of yours that you only claim to be Pakistani but are just another person who has no value for his homeland or the people therein.
Dear sir/madam/whatever. I believe its time to grow up and have a discussion like a grown up. If you are the type to get easily aggravated, kindly do yourself a favor, don't reply. :)
The above, is the only "personal" comment made by me, and rightly so. :)
You may continue replying, and have a ball, I shall refrain from stooping down to your childish level from henceforth and ignore you.
Once more, best of luck to BoltaConsumer.com
Boltay raho, aur bulwaatay raho ;-)
@Faizan
What a self-righteous reply.
Basically you are talking shite and the self-righteous attitude typifies it.
Yes you're right we are all welcome to our opinion and this website is a medium for it. You've used it and so have I. Why would you need to ignore what is said. Are you not a man enough to take a response? You will reply. That's fine I will await for it with abated breath.
You give examples of Pakistani achievements....yes there are some, but why did you not mention the real achievements...such as the one from NADRA, and other major IT companies. Designers in Pakistan are "SO" approachable. I take it that this is something you are mentioning as a positive. Although it is rather a red herring. Pakistani IT income was approx. 20 million a year a few years ago and currently is around 200 million. My friend that is small change for world. Lets put it in perspective. One organisation in the UK has spent over 500 million pounds on their IT infrastructure alone recently. That's one company alone.
So yes Pakistan has massive potential, but until we can come up originality in our products, we will still play around for pittance in the IT world. Thats what I meant with ten to a penny.
But dont reply. I'll be waiting.
Somebody needs a happy meal.
You'll get a real reply when you hit puberty. Is okay.
Kindly contain your "manhood" in your skirt, buy a lollipop, and learn how to take it like a man. Typical ghunda attitude you have sonny boy. :)
There! Does that constitute as a reply to feed your egoistic blabber to prove your right to passage to manhood? Take a deep breath, count to 10, and then send me another "oh-so-threatening" reply asking me to "be a man"
I'll be waiting with "abated breath"...not...
:-P
Told you that you will reply.....too predictable....typical wannabe, who's learned a few words from watching foreign TV channels and wants to be more then the no-hoper that he was born to be.
What planet are you on....obviously the laghari planet.
What relevance was your last message?
I bet you're feeling quite a cock-a-hoop with your reply, but a point of an argument or a debate is to have some relevance to the subject. Is that all you can come up with. Has your minute intellect let you down? Obviously else you may have actually been able to raise a proper argument.
I suppose the lollipops are something you should be used to sucking and are an expert on to be able to recommend it to others. But I wonder what lollipops are you sucking on....the human variety? And that's what makes you a MAN. lol.. I hope your abated breath didnt choke you while you were enjoying another one of your lollipops!!! But then again it would have done the world a favour if it had.
Sonny Boy, Hmmm, is that what your "uncles" call you while offering their lollipops to you and the family? Either that or you've been watching too much Bollywood and Hollywood. I rather think it was the former rather then the latter.
Dont worry, next time I'm buying a happy meal, I'll always think of it as Laghari moment ..... and pity the Mr Lollipop man. ;-)
So where was the threat in my message? Or is that another line you've learned from the foreign channels? I dont need to threaten and especially so with a wannabe lollipop sucker like you. If I was gonna make a threat, it will be along the lines of Any Place, Any time - you choose.
ahahahaah....."laghari planet".... :D
ahahahaahaa......good one man......you're too good of an entertainment monkey to stop replying :-D
come on, give it another go :-P
this time you brought my cast and family into it, next time show your true third rate colors and say something bad about the rest of the people I know : P
Atleast I PUT my name up there cuz I'm not a chicken shit like yourself who is only capable of voicing their opinion hiding behind the screen of their monitor. You go confirm your name, both first & last, then reply.
Give it another go, show everyone else how easily pissed off you get and then get personal and do personal attacks just because you lack substance in your daily life and your so called "debates" :)
As I said before, typical "ghunda attitude". :)
"Any-time, any place"....I'm scared... :-P
My dear little friend who's typing out long messages to probably make up for lack of size elsewhere.... word of advice... learn how to control your temper. :) It's your downfall. I try to speak to you within limits and stick to the topic. You in turn jump to casts and family.
The last thing you want, is the anytime, anyplace scenario. :)
This would be my last response to a pathetic loser like yourself.
Just so that the next time one of your idiotic responses doesn't grant you your wish.
Have a nice life. And a BIG whatever to all your future replies in advance :)
P.S. Boltaconsumer.com, you guys, AND your design, still rocks ;)
Laghari, you are one person I am admiring. Bolta site is gud but why copy the whole website Could only use the idea from them. I hope we get heard from this site to our government.
@Jamal
Sir jee I love the website because they're trying to do good. And the design isn't a full copy. So WHAT if it looks like it? So WHAT if people point a finger at them and say they may have copied it even?
It happens to all people, all things, no matter WHAT you do in life. You do one thing right, 10 people will say you did 20 other things wrong.
The website's look and feel can be changed. That doesnt matter. But to get SO involved in that that you don't look beyond it is a crime in itself :)
By the way, I am sure the Bolta Consumer people are quite capable, but at any point in time you require any sort of help in designing, I'm here at your service. You have my email address. :)
wow quite a discussion here, I returend to this site after a few days and just came across this thread..just checked out the indian site. im no web design expert but i dont know why i like our version better than theirs. i see the features are similar but our boltaconsumer somehow appears brigher and more colorful, more lively. faizan, pakistani, calm down boys. your debate i think is at a stage wehre its become off topic and any further it will serve no purpose in my humble opinon. (just like the lays discussion i just saw:)
@saleha
yes ma'am!
I have ceased...and I shall desist as per my last reply to Mr. Paki-person.
;)
Hmmm, how many last responses you gonna have?
Keep having the last word as it probably serves for your inadequacies elsewhere!
If you're capable of reading, and understanding what is being written then read the previous messages. Don't just repeat what has been written by others. Have a mind of your own.
No one is hiding behind anything. My email address is there as well and I have had other communications with the site administrators on it so nothing hidden at all. You're welcome to have my email address from the site administrator's from who no doubt you have earned browney points and thus contact me independently if you care. The screen name chosen here suggests imagination, which I suppose you wouldn't have a concept off, being a web designer who thinks mimicking someone else's work is ok.
Lets see if you can manage to stick to the vision of this website as you have clearly lacked to date. Contribute something positive to the debates, that will be a start.
No doubt we'll meet elsewhere on here, if you have the capacity to contribute constructively.
Your "little friend" with a "ghunda attitude"....
