Avoid Using Margarine
DO YOU KNOW ... The difference between margarine and butter?
- Both have the same amount of calories.
- Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.
- Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
- Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods. Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!
- Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.
- Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.
Now for Margarine...
- Very high in Trans Fatty Acids...
- Triple risk of Coronary Heart Disease...
- Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) ...
- Lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) ....
- Increases the risk of cancers by up to five fold...
- Lowers quality of breast milk...
- Decreases immune response...
- Decreases insulin response.
- And here is the most disturbing fact....
- Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC...
This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
YOU can try this yourself: purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)... it does not rot or smell differently... because it has no nutritional value, nothing will grow on it... even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your tupperware and spread that on your toast?
RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS
There are still holdouts within the 'scientific' community, particularly those employed or funded by the food industry, who claim there is not yet sufficient proof that trans- fats are dangerous, and then cite studies that justify their position. This is the name of the game in modern-day 'science' where egos and money are involved.
However, most studies currently appearing in the literature support the idea that these chemically altered fats are harmful. In such cases of conflict, I always side with Mother Nature: she is much wiser than we will ever be!
Remember that most of this information about trans- fats has been known for many years, but processors have succeeded in keeping the issue out of the public eye—another example of caveat emptor (let the buyer beware) in the food industry. Now that you are aware of it, the rest is up to you! Good luck, and good health!
Yuck, who wants to eat plastic! But, not to worry margarine is not plastic. “Margarine is one molecule away from plastic” actually comes from an “urban legend” that has been circulating on the Internet since 2003.
Let’s get technical for a moment. Plastic is a polymer, whose ingredients may include polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, acrylic, silicone, and urethane. Margarine is an emulsion of naturally processed vegetable oil, water, salt, vitamins, and other functional ingredients that ensure the safety and quality of the finished product. Emulsions consist of two or more ingredients that naturally do not remain blended or “in suspension”; and need added ingredients to keep them together; think of it like oil and water. Other types of emulsified foods that you may eat include deli meats and salad dressings.
Living a healthy lifestyle includes eating moderate amounts of the right foods. For example, substituting soft margarine for butter. Margarine has 3 times less saturated fat than butter, not to mention beneficial polyunsaturated fats and Vitamin E. Yes, trans fat in margarine was once an issue but margarine producers have reduced trans fat levels to a miniscule amount comparable to that found in butter. I've been working with the National Association of Margarine Manufacturers so I've learned a lot about this particular topic. In addition, heart disease runs in my family so I have a personal interest in the subject as well. Check out the links below for more information:

thanks alot..................thanks thanks.....will u tell me the causes of white flour n cream ......
The new margarine is actually better - I left mine for a few weeks and actually found things growing in it. So that discounts the statement - ''no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)... it does not rot or smell differently... because it has no nutritional value...''
I completely disagree with the topic, and good feedback emma.
Ok, please listen. Margarine is really bad for you. It is trans fat. That is the surest way to an early grave by means of heart problems. What kind of fat did your grandmother and her mother eat? Did they die of heart problems? No. But look at all the people in the west dying from it. it is the number one reason for them to die. They eat these new food stuffs, and they are all sick from it. Do yuor research, and you will see that this is the truth. These american companies are only trying to make profit from you, and they know taht we can be convinced to buy it if they tell us so many times how it is good for us. It is not the truth!
