Can't cancel Readycash account
Oh well, I wanted to cancel my ReadyCash card and account. I had no dues pending since I hadn't used the account in many years. Standard chartered's telephone support told me to write an application and submit the cheque book to their customer care office at I.I. Chundrigar road. I did that but then they said they can't cancel it until some "residue" amount has been cleared!
That's funny because there shouldn't have been any residual amount since I hadn't used the account for so long. *And my last statement didn't show any amount* apart from the renewal fee for the next year in case I wanted to renew. More funny is the fact that the customer support person wasn't even able to confirm what the stupid residual amount actually was. In other words, there was no option for me to pay whatever that amount was and cancel the account on the spot! They asked me to WAIT for a phone call within 15 days from standard chartered and said that the final amount can only be told over that phone call. And only after I have been told that amount can I write a cheque and close my account.
So that's what I'm doing. WAITING! Repeated calls from me haven't achieve anything and its been more than a month!.
There also seems to be no coordination between their customer care office and billing department. The billing department is bent on billing me the renewal fee for next year because, they said: "You didn't cancel your account on time and we have to charge next year's fee by now!"
How pathetic is that?
