I ought electronics worth Rs11000 from Makro Star Gate, in Feb end, when I asked for shopping bag, they told that I had to pay for shopping bag (Rs3 for small bag). I registered a complain in their register and asked their official to justify it. its never ever in any part of world i ve been to many countries. nobody replied me till date.

And it seems they will not reply you. When I asked them the reason for this, they said that they discourage the use of plastic bags, so that's why they are charging Rs.3 for small bag and Rs.6 for large bag.
that is actually true, i live in canada, and when ever i go for grocery shopping, they charge me 5c for a bag, this applies to most of the grocery stores including foodbasics, nofrills, price choppers etc etc, however if you bring a reusable bag (i.e cloth bags "thela" for us) with you, they will credit you "store points" worth 5c which you can use instore.
i dont like the fact that they charge you, but they actually do it to discourage usage of plasitc bags and encourge you to use cloath bags.
At MAKRO, I don't think that they do it to discourage the use of polythene bags. There are no 'thelas' in sight near the counter, if they want to promote it. They should at least give a thela or bag on every 500 or 1000 rupees shopping.
I live in Germany and all stores charge for the bags except may be the small Turkish stores.
So they should start giving a paper or hard paper bags.. insteaod of charging ....
Yes I agree that at least they should replace polythene bags THELAS(cloth or paper bags, if they are "really" discouraging the polythene bags. And also again it should not be charged, Are they working on so low margins that they can not afford bags for a person shopping worth thousands or even hundreds, whereas they charge for makro mails from companies, get huge discounts, get sales promoters from companies(on companies' expense)but they sell shopping bags. Great customer service.
