PTCL (DSL) Complaints - Downloading Speed

i am using PTCL DSL Service and it gives a lower download speed as well.
the distance from exchange is 2 Km, and i called support people 21 times, but they never came to fix it...

I experianced the same problem. I guess there is no technical support department in PTCL, or if there is any, they are not capable of handling so many complaints. I took a student package from Link dot Net and the service is best, economical price. In Ptcl the service is cheap and the rates are high.

This is funny.....by getting 1 MB connection you guys were expecting a download spead of 1 MB???? Get real....you will never get that...specially in pakistan.
1 MB connection doesnt mean the downloading speed is 1 MB.

people i m surprice that how can ptcl has given u a student package connection becoz im trying to get this service from 14 july and still no progress on my request. i got i request or order id from the ptcl web but when i contect to ptcl help line 1236. i came to know that they r all son of bitch becoz. and making lame excuses that you telephone line is not working fine.So i order a for a new connection i order 4 a optical fiber connection but what i got was a non-optical line then i oder 4 a student package on this new no. but after all these effect when i call help line "yes 1236" these people were un able to locate my order id and at i call again my call was transfor to verification dept. they said there is a error and they will call me within an hours but i receive no call yet....
by i mean ptcl sucks and they need to be fucked badly...........i think they deserve much more then this becoz my vication are over and i have wasted my holidays ........thanz to ptcl "the utimate sucker dept."...............u can reply me at just4groupip@gmail.com .........so guzes/gulz chill and get ride of this company...

Its technical but u will get the max speed of 1024/8=128 kbps every where in the world on a 1M connection.
For technical people 1M means 1 megabit per second and computer (Windows) shows you the speed in kilo bytes per second. 1 byte = 8bits hope you understand

Max speed from 1M is 128 KB/sec anything up is ur luck anything below this is line losses check ur line........ i also get 89kb/sec this is normal considering the line losses.

HELLO,ptcl dsl is not a dsl.it should be called as dialup b coz i have 2mb connection but my downloding speed without downloaders is about 4kb/s and with downloaders it is 16kb/s.this is dsl??????

my complaint is that i am using 1 mb ptcl dsl but its speed is worst.or say it is very very very bad downloading speed with download manager is only 30kb/s its speed is very low it takes time to open website.plz any one can help me that what can i do.

I have place 1MB student package order since 27th January 2010, according ptcl help line 080080800 dsl line is already deployed at 31st January 2010 BUT dsl line is still not deployed to my home. I have also contact our Gulshan exchange dsl department but no on picking my phone. I urge to please look into the issue and deployment of DSL line should make possible as soon as possible.

1.ptcl dsl browsing speed is very low.ECAUSE OF PTCL over coming load and connections.
2.if internet explorer automatically stops browsing and gets closed its solution is that you should install any another browser eg GOOGLE CHROME,MOZILLA FIRE FOX, OR ANY OTHER OR INTERNET EXPLORE 8..
3i agree with all that downloading speed is really low.eg if a customer has connection of 1mb.he will have 15-30kbs downloading speed and some time below 15.
i thing to note that before two or three months speed of dsl was very good some time downloading speed increases upto 160kbs.

a news to know for those dsl customers who r using huawei hg 510 device for dsl.the driver of this device is so old and not updated since 2003.

PTCL DSL company is increasing its lie system day by day.they said they r giving 1mb but it is only 45kbps according tu community.because of low speed.

If it is leggal then tell me what is the best way to sharing DSL with my neighbour? only wire system not wireless antena system tell me wire system. what will be the its effect if 2 people are dowloading at same time what will be the downloading speed on 1 mb both Sides our side and neighbour side.

shiro is the very oldest modem of PTCL it has finished in stock from a long time.... so you can also change it by your DSL officer if you are getting trouble Huawei hg510, ZXDSL , Fiber Home AN1020 & Huawei MT880 have good result.....

PTCL do not support for networking but if you want to do this so you can because there is restriction from PTCL but still there will be no support from 1218 you have to handle it individually .....

well i am surprised how people start blaming PTCL for their lack of knowledge ... i have found PTCL to be amongst the best DSL provider in the country ... first of all you guys need to get the facts straight ... 1MB connection DOES NOT and i repeat DOES NOT mean that you will get 1MB speed for downloading ... the connection is in BITS ... the download speed is in BYTES ... 1Byte = 8 Bits ... so if you have a 1MB connection the max you can get is 128 KBPS ... and that too if you have a DEDICATED connection ... which you dont have ... dedicated connections cost 10 times more ... all PTCL connections you guys get are SHARED ... meaning you share the line with other people ... if there are few people online ... you will get speeds above the 128kbps limit ... if there are many people online you will get lower speeds ... depending on the load on the line ... and i see people getting 180kbps from a 1MB link and still complaining ... the avg speed you get from a 1MB link is 90 - 100 kbps ... so stop whining ... as for guys praising wateen ... they have the most messed up billing system ... they overbill ... and though their service is good .. the packages suck ... almost all of their packages have download limits

Hello buddies. I have been using ptcl for around 2 years and I think they are one of the best dsl providers in Pakistan. They got a very efficient customer care department. Whenever I called them about any dsl problem, they helped me a lot.
Now I come to your downloading speed problems. In the whole world (not just in Pakistan), 1Mb connection = 128kbps. WHY???? I tell u this.
You people normally define computer storage in GBs. The smallest unit of storage is "bit". Then it is byte. Then its kilobyte(KB). then MB and GB and so on.
1Mb = 1024bits = 128kilobytes, but 1MB = 1024kilobytes. You will notice that if 'b" is written in small letter it means bit and if "B" is written in capital then 1MB should give 1024KB speed.
So you get maximum 128KB speed out of 1MB connection

i lived in ATTOCK and there is a problem in dsl i complaint many times in dsl complaint cell (attock) but no action has been given in these days i receive only 4 to 8kb out of 1mb connection

The PTCL is not managing properly the DSL service and every one who has got the dsl connection is facing lowspeed of downloads and as such the customers are seeking connections from other internet providing companies.The PTCL is although a company but working like a gov.department and the staff of PTCL is raw hand and non co-opeartive and thier attitude is very harsh in thier dealing with customers

PTCL's dsl service is very good but they are fail in customer service.take ages to overcome little things..I am facing a problem from 15 days.with 1mb connection my average was 118kB-122kB.now from 15 days i am using 4mb connection and my speed hardly go to 130KB.they should improve their customer service.

I think now PTCL dsl is much better then before..!!

If any body want to speed up there dsl or dailup connection and downloading speed, so here is solution. Just kindly download a software known as "GETFULLSPEED" and install
it. After you installed the software just select your browser and click on "BOOST" button.

I am PTCL consumer from last 4-5 years and PTCL get more than 5000/- with fraud and after no. of complaints they never do any positive action and did not recovery my extra paid money.
Now PTCL DSL 1 MB download speed is just 30KB.

In foreign, this kind of activities the court can ban the concerned department or fined them huge fine.

Pls contact to Supreme Court or High Court Chief Justice for So-mo-to Action against PTCL

PTCL collecting Million of Rupees monthly with fraud and providing poor services.
