PTCL DSL PACKAGE 4MB Complaints - SPEED AND DOWNLOADING PROBLEM

PTCL 4 mb and above dsl packages are big fake

i am from chakwal

recently i upgraded my dsl package to 4mb but there is a big problum in connection

after 2 minuts its automatically disconnect , i complain to all sources but no solution

so i think PTCL is providing FAKE connection upto 1mb

plz add a reply if you are facing or not facing this problum

Yes i agree with you guys. the new 4 mb package is actually b/w 1mb and 2mb. i recently subscribed to 4mb but speeds i am getting around 120kb average. they are manipulating and leeching money from already poor people of Pakistan. when you complain they say we are working on it but reality is different. they just need money with poor marketing.

from 4th august i have converted my dsl from 1mb to 4mb. offically it is converted ( that now i will charge for 4mb ) but still my speed is 1mb. i complaint on 1218 for many times, every time they gave me 24 hours but still the promblem is same. i went to ptcl branch on charsada road peshawar they told me that in one day the problem will be solved but 4 days ago i am still facing the same promblem. my telephone no is 091 2582161. please take suitable actions to solve my problem.

The problem is with the capacity at PTCL end. They have to physically patch each connection in the exchange. For 1MB there are different DDFs, 4MB different DDFs and same with 6MB and 8Mb. No doubt they have converted your connections to 4MB via "Software" only but in actual they have no space left on 4MB in you exchange and they are waiting for any subscriber to leave so that they can patch the next subscriber cable in the queue.

Solution:
Don't waste your time by calling PTCL help lines etc, Just go to your corresponding exchange, talk to the guys there and request to do something for you. This was what i did, I kept on bugging them for more than 2 weeks, i went there after each another day and finally they got sick of me and did what i wanted :) Enjoy. Hope this helps

This is just a fake package, the speed never comes 4mb. It comes 50kbps-100kbps or at the most 150kbps (very rare).
I agree that this is a 1mb package and every-time we call, they ask 24 hours for it! It's just the price. Don't go for PTCL!!!
Wi-tribe is very good as it says 1mb and they give 1mb. On PTCL, 4mb is equal to 1mb even low! They should give 400+kbps on 4mb but they give 100-kbps while Wi-tribe on 1mb gives 130+kbps.

The speed you get on your connection depends alot on the quality of your Phone Line and the distance of exchange from your house.Its DSL Technology issue. I got the new phone connection 8 months ago, the exchange is 1.5KM away and on 1MB i get 110Kbps and on 2MB i get 220Kbps...

this has nothing to do with phone line mr sohail. i have outstanding noise margin and attenuation because i am living just few blocks away from exchange.the 4mb package is gimmick and would only give you speeds around 150kb average depends on server location. don't expect 350kbps speed all day and night.i think 2mb package was better then this but this shit marketing by ptcl is just lame for people to think that it is real 4mb.
if things stay like this i will switch to linkdotnet 2mb package.

@Sumair: If this has nothing to do with "phone line" then you better first read the technical specifications of DSL technology, do some R&D then come and give some solid statement.

I am getting SNR of 32 and attenuation 16 because i am very close to exchange.if.if this is enough please don't argue.if you still say my line has something bad then you must be genius DSL guru or something.you can get these ratios on bad phone lines dear.it is close you can get.

dude i just dont know what problems u guys are having but i first had a ptcl connection with 1mb package and i was getng a downloading speed of around no more then 55kb/s then a ptcl helpline banda told me to swittch to fibre new connections i switched with 1mb connection and from past 4 months meri downloading speed is around no less then 110kbs and a frnd of mine whose ma neighbour has 4 mb ke packgae on fibre and he gets around 340 to 360 kb

i think u all shudchek ke wether ap logo ka connection is on fibre or not a very simple way to check is that ke apki wire jis pole se arai hain uskey uper jo box hain woh traditional black box hain ya naya white box with ptcl written on it ho new fibre connections hain woh white box pe hain porani wali balck pe hain and fibre conection pe aney se i gurantee u ke apki speed will be around 90 to 110 kb

Yet the speed is pethatic. It isn't that PTCL lacks the technology, its just that the support people, the technicians are all used to of feeding on haram. They just dont work.

yeah you guys are right, ptcl sucks, but still when the network is up, i get download speed of up to 450 kbps on my 2mb connection. but usually it is down n speed is around 200 kbps. the actual problem is frequent disconnections , that just ruin my work. if you guys know of any other service that gives unlimited internet packages within affordable range, do share. and by the way, they are not giving you dedicated service, that you want 1mb speed on 1mb package. it is shared, so we get around 1/10th of the speed. you can get dedicated service but cost is quite higher.

I suggest we all complain to PTA, perhaps they can make them work.

I suggest wateen but currently they offer only 1Mb but there are no disconnections and network is always up i get about 160kbps all the time :)

Asslam o Alykum;; after that i want to say that to you that, we have taken 4mb dsl be4 17 days,, our faisalabad exchanges say to us taht, ur activation didnt cmplete. we have call 080080800 number on that number, guys say that, ur order and activation completed ok. Sir Bilal of dsl excahange says, that, .... there bacm a stroke therefore we cant active your dsl jumpring... plz,,,,, rplu us or solve our problem,, otherwise,, we can also take another network like, wateen , worls call,, etc..plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

PTCL only knows how to grab money from people.the customer service is not good. 1218 per call karo tu koi attend nai karta. kindly apna net badaldein aur linkdot net ya phir maxcom k service lagaien.

I am using world call broadband for about 2 months....
my connection is 256kbps.And it costs Rs.1035/= per month.
And my downloading speed varies from 35 to 350 (very very rare)(mostly in late night 3am to 6am)
But its average speed is 50 kb to 45 kb.
And ptcl is giving us 1mb dsl (student package) in only Rs.840/= only....
Worldcall sucks....
I am going back to ptcl dsl.....

i have 1mbp student package divided in three pcs all work well. now we need to have three more connecions. what you guys think should i get another connection or upgrade present to 4mb. which option will be faster. i think there will be no significant difference b/w 1 and 4 mb.

Hello gusy. dsl require minimum distance from exchange to your home. If your 1Mb or 2Mb connection is not satisfactory then you should not upgrade it to 4Mb/6Mb or 8Mb dsl. if you are near to exchange and prblem exist then check your phon cable joints. refresh them by cleaning or try to sold them if possible .

1Mb----------------------> 98~128KB/s
2MB--------------------->190~256KB/s
4MB--------------------->400~512KB/s

so your connection is good and surely u are in range of 5Km distance from exchange.

PTCL is best broad Band service in Pakistan for home user. some technical limitation of dsl as above said in last comment. due to these limitations some dsl subscribers getting problems of disconnectivity and slow speed.

No doubt PTCL has the technology, but they are CORRUPT sons of bitches working there !!!

All who are facing DC should buy any of the D-Link or NetGreat or SpeedCast dsl modem. This would help you resolve your issues. Also switch to G.Dmt modulation protocol.

It totally depends on your needs. If you need redundency and minimum downtime, you must get 2 different connections from 2 different ISPs. Getting two 1mb connections from same ISP doesn't ensure high availability.

If you are looking for high speed, then going for 4MB plan is cheaper and offers better speed.

PTCL is hopeless im from karachi and they charged me for 4 mb while never physically upgrading the package inshallah those haraam sons of ***ches will burn on hell.. Im extremely saddened i also have this every 2 minute disconnect issue I think we should all march to our local exchange all at once and have a huge rallly or protest! This must change because the internet is becoming the new future of the world and we cannot live with such hopeless internet. In USA you get 25MB download and 25MBupload speeds unlimited for only 20USD or around 1600 rupees. There is almost NEVER downtime or connection problems. Now do you see the hopelessness of this country...

This is what happaned to me exactly, I applied for 4Mb package on august 6th. they said it would take 7 working days ...It took them till august 20th to upgrade my package. after that I complained the very same day that im nor getting 4mb speeds the said ok your problem will be resolved in 72 hours. I called after 72 hours but still they didnt upgrade the package I called hundreds of time but they are just hpless lying bastards. I downgraded my package on september 3rd and then they said it will take 3 working days and i was normally on student package they made me PROVE AGAIN that I was a student despite already knowing.... MAY ALLAH send LANAAT ON PTCL AND ALL THE HARAAM KAM CHORE PEOPLE IN THAT COMPANY. I have been bothered to such an extent by them that i would go as far as to say that so I would like to propose a strike against PTCL.

Yeah man I'm also from Chakwal main city and im also facing same problem, I have upgraded recently but transfer rate is not so cool, as I think in 4mb Downstream should be above 500 kb/s. but im getting only 200 to 300 kbs/s... This is not gooood..!!

And also the problem of disconnect, not after eve 5 min but 2 or 3 times in 1 hour..!!

JAL Pari upgrade to 4mb if your line rate is 4000+ otherwise not..to get good line rate retwist joints on your line

I had 2mb which is now converted to 4mb. On reality I am Still on 2mb.Double Bandwidth is only PTCL's advertising campaign tactic, believe me. Today when i went to PTCL exchnge, the DSL ppl were laughing! and were shoked to hear that i am getting 2mb! where they expected it to be 1mb. When I told them I am getting 2mb speed, they dropped their jaws, saying 'ap ko to 2mb mil rah hai yaha to logo ko 1mb se ziada nahi mil rah'

i'm also facing the same problem. previously i was using PTCL 1mb connection and i was working fine then i upgraded it to 4mb and ever since my max download speed is 30 to 40 kbps and ptcl is not doing any thing about it they are saying there is problem in my line but two weeks back when i was using 1mb connection i was fine a got speeds up to 110 kbps.

I have connection of Ptcl Dsl, it's 1mb, when they upgraded 2mb to 4mb, so i decided to go for 4mb, they did it very quickly in 12hrs, at first the speed was definitely at 4mb, i checked at speedtest then after 1 week my connection speed came back to 1mb, checked speedtest, strange!!!, then i called them they said that exchange does not supports 4mb in your area, Bullshit, so I had to come back to 1mb downgraded it. They don't listen, I hate ptcl representatives.

All you konw about this that ptcl is privatized and its has under the contol of eithisalt compny in dubai they have 76% share in it.so dont waste your time it is pakisatn and every thing is wrong here.In other countries the speed of dsl is not less then 10mbps. and have low cost. pakistan just collecting mony from poor people and pass their time.

I got my Internet connection from PTCl today and i asked them for 2mb connection. but i get only 5/8kb download speed. i do not know the problem. i have taken screen shot of my Dsl connection statistics to show you so that you can tell me whether its a problem from exchange or my phone line is faulty.

Dear Friends. here is your speed for any connection.
you package in Kb/s divide it by 8. you will get your downloading speed.
like. on 1 Mb. 1024 divide by 8 equals 128Kb/s.
on 4 Mb. 4 multiply 1024 divide by 8 equals 512Kb/s.
so this is the minimum speed you must get. if don't, log a complain.
