PTCL Evo nitro and Evo 3.1 low speed problem

I have been using ptcl evo 3.1 for almost 8 months now, month ago i also purchased ptcl evo nitro. I have full signals and also had good speed. But sometime when area had a technical issue as always ptcl almost took weeks to solve it. last 2 weeks my Evo nitro speed went down from 4 Mbps to 256 kbps, now im constantly getting the 256 kbps speed. First i thought something either wrong with my pc or just a minor issue will be solved soon.. than i used my evo3.1 which is on daypass package. but same issue with that as well first few hours of recharging the card i got like 1 Mbps almost for two hours after than it gave me 256 kbps contantly for 22 hours. I have a friend who uses evo as well and i asked him, he had the same complain.
I went to the OSS and they told me its a minor technical issue i should call the helpline 1218. Which i called and almost after wasting lots of money through mobile cards i succefully managed to talk to a technical person. but he was no use for me i think i have more information about whats wrong and what could be the possible solutions than him.
In short i couldnt solve my issue from OSS and Helpline. i have searched over google and found that many ppl are getting this problem. Now im just setting hopeless till a miracle happens.. or else with in few days ill close my nitro account and probably sell my devices, thats the least i can do.
If any of you having such issue either with evo or broadband kindly share your problem.

I have the exact same problem, get max 256....

same here yaar .... i am using it for more than one year now ... i used to get 3 mb speed but since the strike i am getting less than 1 mb and for the past 2 week it's like i am using dial up ... even dial up is faster than this speed :( i just dont know wat is wrong with PTCL and their staff when i complaint they dont understand bunch of idots they have hired.

i have the same problem as well.. i think for last 10 days having this problem.. tried to complain on helpline but nothing.. i went to oss and they also say try this try doing that.. but now as i understood what the problem is i asked them if there is a serious problem u can tell me and i will find an alternate solution but they say no we dont have any problem it must with your settings or pc.. seriously if they are facing some technical issues than just tell your customer so we know that it will take time .. but no they dont tell you anything just lie and lie again..

OK, I figured out how to resolve but only temporarily. I called them and they refreshed my connection from their back end after taking my MDN. This fixed the problem shortly and gave me max speed up to 3mbps but after about an hour the problem started again and brought me back to 256kbps. I'm trying to call them again to refresh my connection, please call them and complain ask them to refresh your connection, this is NOT an area specific problem or a problem with your PC! Trust me I tried everything. They need to fix their back end clog when our speed goes too fast something trips and puts it back to 256! Using PTCL Evo Nitro

Shahrukh thats not a permenent solution.. its not only with nitro but with evo 3.1 as well. i got both and 3.1 is on daypass so when i recharge it it gives me full speed for two hours only than comes back to 256 .. we need a permenent solution as you are using nitro im sure you can imagine how much money you waste if your connection not working properly.. aaaaaa really ptcl suck .. so the other isp's as well.. dont know which one should i get..

Junaid I 100% agree that this is not a permanent solution. People need to focus on this so PTCL knows that this is not an area specific problem, anytime I call them they say they will send a tech team to my area, this problem persists everywhere !!!

Please everyone call PTCL 1218 and knock this into their heads, I think with more and more calls with the same issue they will be bound the correct the problem. I asked them to refresh my connection again but this time they didnt and I am still stuck with slow speed on my Nitro at 256 kbps.

Yeah you are right .. i already registered my complaints more than one time on 1218.. and today i again called them but this time i just told them my MDN number and asked the status.. than they asked me what is the issue.. i simply said that you ppl already know the issue so plz dont waste your and my time .. its a common problem with so many ppl so kindly tell me when its going to be solved and they said that it might take sometime.. they also said that they got so many complaints about the same issue and they forwarded them but they cant give us any specific time when it will be solved. so my suggestion to everyone is that asap register your complaints to 1218.. and temprary block your connection it will save you some money and also will bring ptcl attention .. obviously when this issue will be solved we can reactivate them.. i will block mine tomorrow.

I am also the victim of evo nitro. it is giving me 80kpbs download since last one weak. before that i used to get 600kpbs, signal strength is good but speed sucks big time. i tried to call 1218 but listened nothing but a F***ing advertisements. I hate ptcl and their services. i wish i could kick ptcl. uff i really hate hate hate them. all ptcl employees are Haramis.

I was using it for 2 months. I have nitro 3g. Instead of getting 9.3mbps i m getting only 0.26mbps. Please do something. IN the start it was excellent but after a week or two it got terrible speed and disconnect

Ok the issue has been cleared by ptcl. Today the told me that if you use Nitro or then you get max speed up to 15gb, 512 up to 20gb, and after that 256 for the rest of the month. On the 1st of every month your connection will be refreshed to max speed and the circle starts again.

How convenient for ptcl to change their plan in the middle without even notifying us, they should be fined by government for bullshitting consumer. I used 66gb thus far because I download blu ray mkv's a lot, I apparently have to wait til the 1st now. Please complain about this new policy, put in an email to evo.complaintslhr@ptcl.com.pk

I dont think that this is the policy as I downloaded almost 100gb but after this I am getting 256kbps beside I am getting this speed before november.

I compeletly agree with shahruk malik, PTCL people are throttling the speed of EVO device, either it is 3.1 RevA or 9.3 RevB device. I have seen the similiar post on another forum, that person also called the PTCL and managed to talk someone who can reply and he also confirms the same policy. As it is also evident from my usage of 3.1MbRevA device, after I cross the limit of 15GB download, at the downloading speed greater than 1.5Mbps , the speed capped down to 512Kbps('b' is small) and after 5 GB of usage it is again capped down to 256Kbps. Where as upload is 800Kbps. What a joke they are doing with the customers, clearly violoiting their policy and faking, misguiding the innocent cutomers. Those person who think this is not the problem you can watch your download data size in the ZTE dialer program, that will give you a rough idea of your downloads size for the current month. Thats what they mean by unlimited download , 15GB.. hahaahhaahah

I am also having the same problem with my Evo 3.1. Same is the complaint they are giving us no more limit than 15GB to customers what a joke. We pay them for unlimited while they are giving us the limit of Buzz offer. Evo should be banned because they just have a profit motive but we want regularity in service.

i just called 1218 and they told me that its because of the Quota usage and they will inform their users of the new policy .. its the same as told by Shahrukh .
i went for ptcl as they didnt had any quota limit . and its same for both the 3.1 mb and the 9.3 mb connection .. wat idots .

yaar browsing to 512 kb key connection per bhi ho jati hai y would one want to increase speed because they want to download or use for streaming purposes.... and for 3.1 and 9.3 mb connection you are giving 10gb quota .. this is ridiculous

I am having the same problem for almost 2 weeks now. I called 1218, reported the issue. After wasting $$$ and almost 7 days later I called them back again:

ME: Hi, I reported the speed issue, why is it so low? It's been a week now, u said 24 hours to reply back.

PTCL: Sir your speed will be capped to 256K after you've downloaded 10GB.

ME: WHAT ?!?!?! This was NOT the part of our contract !

PTCL: Well sir this is to ensure that other customers can get proper speeds.

ME: I don't care about other customers. If you don't have the capacity to serve, then stop making new customers like crazy. Besides, With this speed limit, am I going to pay the same amount every month or is it reduced too ?

PTCL: No sir, the monthly charges will stay the same.

ME: What is this, a joke? I want complete refund of my device and this months internet charges.

PTCL: (to summarize) That can't happen. (Go screw yourself)

Guyz.. just don't recharge and fill them up with complains.. sooner or later they will understand people don't need that jerk internet service which cost you 2000 for 10GB.. what the place we are living...

PTCL is a cheater. They don’t care for their customers. This is totally unjustified restricting bandwith upto 15gb max. If they don’t revert back this stupid decision soon, I will not make any payments then.

I think Omair is right .. 256 is no use for us anyway.. so just fuck it .. if you are using 3.1 dont recharge it .. if you are using nitro than just go to oss and block it .. while as alternate i suggest you to use infinity.. its not bad with what it charges.. ok now maybe you are a gamer which i am as well .. than infinitry sucks coz the ping.. than i would suggest the wateen..
I really dont know what ptcl management was thinking when making such decision.. ok fuck the customer just think about profit.. but again from where the profit comes you assholes .. the customers are the primary source.. i seriously dont think they are qualified enough to understand this simple thing.. but they will when everyone will stop using evo.. and plz guys tell you friends are using evo and those are intending to get evo and warn them before they make a wrong decision bcaz as they see the wrong advertisements..
I am not sure if its the matter with broadband as well.. but if its not soon its going to be.. many companies like worldcall as long they were giving good service no one cared about the charges they paid .. but after a while they started to suck and today they call thier old customers and tell them you can pay for one month to reactivate your device or you can come and sell back your device .. in short we need ISP ( ptcl ) but they need thier customers more than we need them.. so go on ptcl fuck with your customer you will see.........

Additonally everyone please report this misleading of customers and clear violation of PTCL policy to PTA(Pakistan Telecommunication Authority). Just google out PTA their complaint system is online and easy and 80% people got positive response. So everyone launch your complain against PTCL through PTA.

PTCL has placed a cap on their "EVO" domain products; anyone exceeding 15GB download limit will be restricted to 512kbps (50KB/s) and anyone exceeding 25GB will be restricted to 256kbps (25KB/s). Lets not forget that 25KB/s is not even good for a clear Skype audio call and when someone pays PKR 7,000 upfront and PKR 3,000/month and in return gets 25KB's - thats really not cool.

PTCL does not offer unlimited usage anymore on "EVO" products and at this point they are not offering any upgrades/ packages that offer unlimited usage for an additional cost. In other parts of the world this issue that PTCL pretends to be facing is handled through a "Fair use policy" but like ever "they wanna bull u around" cz u let them.

This decision is pretended to show that PTCL does not want any power users on this new fragile technology. Which obviously limits this product to be of interest only to the on-the-go type business people who don't worry about PTCL charging them a filthy amount and just want to check emails or browse on-the-go (which is already taken care of by cell phones and BB).

In the era where PTA is bagging filthy money with the help of the cellular mafia and PTCL being a government organization, yet i see the company just changing their logo and trying to step into every telco related business - alas! no vision!

After download an Installation EXE file and Word document will be received. Follow the instructions.

But problem is that after istallaition Common Downloader file could not RUN and message appear to change configration / Reinstall the software?

ok now we all know what the problem with this .. so i have closed my evo account.. and now im using wateen.. come on guys obviously ptcl was giving a good package but now it became the worse so just leave it.. and switch to another one.. there are plenty of isp's giving good packages..

I've never even seen 4mbs, my nitro connection has been on 256kbs since I purchased it, I sriously think it's even slower than Evo 3.1! Is this some kind of sick joke by PTCL?

After punching some numbers on your calculator you will find that

3.1Mbps means 1.3GB per hour
9.3Mbps means 4.0GB per hour

so in short on RevA if you use about 4 hours on internet in the WHOLE DAMN month its fair and it justifies the 2000 Rs/month!!!!

and on Nitro a 1 hr and 15 mins for 3000 Rs/month!!

Today i visited Corporate Center Barkat Market Lahore to ask about the speed issue i am facing with my evo nitro. they said that your quota has exceeded 15Gb, i asked them what quota i have paid for unlimited package. He said that they are making policy of "fair usage" , and its their management decision. i asked him to tell me any senior person contact details so that i can say "Hello" to him. then i visited their manager at first floor. i told every thing and argued too much but nothing has happened. i then asked him to please block my usb so that i can through this device in dustbin. finally i blocked my account and i pray to ALLAH that " Ya ALLAH aap is company ptcl ko barbad kar do. in kay employees or management dunya kay zaleel tareen log hain. in ka kuch na rahay. " aameen . what else i can do. i am tooooooooooooo angry on them. Fu***ing Bas**rds.

thats how PTCL is ... bunch of Idiots .... so wat is the new Quota limit then ? they are on to some thing . instead of handling the load of users by network enhancement they are cutting the speed :( .. thats wat they call load balancing

WTF is happening i really cant understand .. first for a whole complete month they set the max speed to 256 and almost at the end of the month they say speed limit is finished now.. so after few days you can go and pay your full bill.. some of you suggested to complain to PTA .. my dear in this country the biggest thieves are the ones who listen to your complaints.. anyway as far as i think only solution would be to close your accounts.. i closed mine even before Eid.. just saw the post by shahrukh that they have ended the quota limit.. i think thats the most wierd thing i have ever seen .. one day one policy.. maybe some of you dont have any choice but to use evo but those who got any other choice my suggestion is that to block your account .. im sure the reason why the canceled the qouta limit was bcaz of those users who blocked thier accounts..

I agree on the flip flop of policy, thanks to the users who blocked/complained they have shown ptcl power of consumer. They better keep the limit off now, thus far since last night my nitro is working perfect. I unfortunately am one of those who has no choice, since my house is far from the center of the city and my phone lines are crap so the only service I am forced to use is ptcl wireless. So far nitro is working good since last night, lets see how long this lasts... I have my fingers crossed but I will be very lucky if I get this speed for atleast the next few hours.

i have ptcl bad 1mb packege.but dsl speed is equal to vphone.sir dsl mean digital subcriber line.no never it's ptcl bad line.so kindly of the sevice of dsl immediately finish in our country.

well according to a phone call received from ptcl , they have terminated the policy for data limit. The excuse which they gave is that they were testing their system and it was only for testing purpose. Can anybody have confirmed that ??? . I have recently uploaded the card to check their claim..

I have no other option but to use this service and i paid my bill before the due date (which is good behavior considering their services) yet it does not go above 100KB/s (AT ITS BEST) which is frustrating. Went through their customer services several times, tried their local office but no avail.

PTCL needs to scratch their heads and revisit the feasibility of this technology and then claim an actual tested speed. They have marketed this product like jerks and it is a SCAM. A BIG ONE!

600 KB/s is a dream for PTCL.
