ptcl evo Complaints - there lieing to the customer

Same exp with me, i got the EVO and was getting 25kbps, I live in F-8 Islamabad and still it didn't worked well.
PTCL didnt respended to my complaint yet. I guess i need to follow the same procedure.

I have a evo device and all I want to say "It sucks". They charge 2K Rs each month and in reply they didn't even listen complains. My old world call evdo is better than it.

I live in the F.B.Area karachi and most of the time I am not been able to connect to the server ;'( DSL broadband is a lie. PTCL cheating us. even my warid GPRS connection works better gives me a speed of 22kb.

@All: If you are thinking to buy it. Please don't waste your money and time.

i have got this device and and i am 100% satisfied with this. it is giving me 250...300 kb download , and i think that PTCL is upgrading its system, this was the reason that you people can't get the dsired speed . now there are many areas expanded for EVO. and the service is also available in remote areas. So keep enjoy EVO and Ptcl.

In the area near my university (CBM), this device sucks. I barely get 2 KB per second there and am lucky the day when it gives me 128 kbps or 16 KB per second. However, near my house (PECHS), EVDO works properly and I have downloaded at speeds exceeding 300 KB per second with the USB device. So it does depend on which area you're in.

Hay myself Is Ahmed from lahore, my story about PTCL EVO Broad band is quite similar to Umer Baig , I heared about the device and their "revolutionary" speed and technology , went in customer care center and bought the device . I was simply not setisfied with the inconsistent speed which varied from 20 Kb to 40 KB . I visited my village in the trial period ( one week) and i was just having conntecivity , the word speed doesn't apply on what i was getting in there because i even was not able to open my mail box . I returned device on seventh day and then got the news of refunding the moeny in month . i was shocked as i was expecting to get back my money . i was not told about this refund after one month policy , i argued with the representative at customer care center , finally he said he is neither responsibile nor can do any thing about it . After waitung for one month i visited the customer care center on 30th September , here then i got the news that PTCL can refund this money on their sweet will , no exect date can be given . i was totally lost like this was the customer care they talk about , i want to request any of the concerned authority to look upon this porblem as it is not less than a robery . i purchased the device on 25.08.2009 and today is 25.10.2009 and still i have no idea at all when i m f going to get my money back .That is the story of PTCL Customer care !

I am too having occassional frustratation on part of inconsistency in speed. Videos that I play on facebook or youtube pause while playing. But overall I am keeping it as it gives me the luxury of having online anywhere anytime at a fair speed. My advise to all those who have claimed refund but didn't get it, to get your complaints registered to Consumer Court and you can not only get your refund but can also demand compensation.

Hi, guys.. i have read the above comments.. i have been using different wireless internet connections.. so i thought maybe i can share my experience with you guys.. first thing.. we dont differ Kb and KB.. B(byte) & B(bit).. if i convert 1mbps to byte it will be 124 kBps.. anyway.. the PTCL says it gives us the speed of 300 to 500 kbps.. so when we convert them to bytes it will be 35 to 65 KB/s.. Great way to fool the innocent ppl.. :) .. i have used wateen and worlcall also.. wateen speed is good but it has some real signals problem.. so i prefer worldcall.. if the worlcall signals are good in ur area it gives u complete 1mbps(124KB/s) speed.. even more.. i use it in karachi malir area..

Hey you people, don't blame PTCL. it's your fault. In my house , the vfone signals strength is no more then 55% but at late night i get 250kb/s speed on EVO device..
Now what you have to do is just open the BROADBAND SOFTWARE and go to TOOLS>OPTIONS>NETWORK and set your BROADBAND connection to EVDO. But before doing that, you must disconnect from the internet. In HYBRID or CDMA state, the speed remains between 16-60kb/s. (wireless speed still and always depend upon CONNECTION STATE and SIGNAL strength)
I hope my instructions would work for all of you users who are not getting good speed.

Moreover, go to the modem properties, switch the speed to 921600bytes.
enable MODEM ERROR CONTROL and HARDWARE FLOW CONTROL. The speed would drastically boost up. (Now I am getting 200+Kb/s speed at noon too at just 55% of signal srength and I hope if signals are 80%+, the speed would be ultimately 350+kb/s). So stop blaming PTCL and do something by yourself.

And try using Internet Download Manager 5.18 or later. You would never be worried about the download seed.

please read its 300-600kbps not 600 KB there is a difference between bits and bytes
If your getting 40KB then it actually means your getting 320kbps. what ever dowload speed you get multiply it with 8 and you will get kbps.
For example if your getting 100KB download multiply with 8 and its 800kbps connection. PTCL only deceived you by saying 300-600kbps and not the KB

Sir, at which place PTCL has said bit and not byte. On ptcl website it says kbps. KBPS is the ABBREVIATION of KILO BYTES PER SECOND and for KILO BIT PER SECOND too.
Check your settings and signal strength.
If signal strength for example is 40% it means the signal strength is between 20-40%.

If you are right in your way then why am i getting 250kbps download speed. (in ur language KB/S)

I am in agreement with all the above complaints. The thing i that PTCL are all a bunch liers. I am so much frustrated on the speed. Believe me my Warid sim worked faster than this crap. It was a waste of mony. They have fooled us all the way. And I think we should drag their asses consumer courts so that they can understand what it means to fool anyone. Is there any other company giving good Evo or anything in Lahore?

After so many days i have checked the this site again.. almost everyone is against PTCL EVO except one .. Mr. Ahmad Talal.. dear sir many people dont know about the kb/s and kB/s .. but its good that people are getting aware of such jargons.. i will try to make it more clear..
PTCL Evo says a Max speed of 3100kbps(387.5kB/s) which means the maximum limit of the device.. but it also says that it will give a avg downloading speed of 500kbps(62.5kB/s).. so i think they are making fool of their customers.. i have used Wateen it gives you the speed what it promises.. now i am using worldcall and i think its best for me..
Worldcall says it gives you downloading speed of 1mbps(124kB/s) and it really gives me this speed sometime i get the speed of 135KB/s .. i got 90% signal strength.. so i would suggest For Worldcall or Wateen ..

I have also get PTCL Evo stick. But its speed is too much low. Its downloading speed is approximatly 17kB/s. Now I am thinking that I have waste my money.

Then why you people saying that you did not know what is kbps or KBPS.
Please read every think carefully.
And one more this service is still available in selected cities. So you can not enjoy EVO speed in village.

Hey guyz i live in naval complex near f-8 .....im having 40% signals nd browsing speed is gud but downloading is not good.....but after midnite the downloadin and browsing speed becomes faster........................!!!

Evo network usually remains too much busy from 6 PM to 12 AM. But still sometimes I get 250kB/s download speed via Internet Download Manager when the signal strength is 40-60%.

Dear Evo users, I have useful tips for you to get maximum speed with Evo connection.

1- Use USB extension. This will ultimately increase the signal strength by indicating or without indicating.
2- Use Internet Download Manager. This software sucks the real speed while downloading.
3- Use Ashampoo internet accelerator to accelerate internet on the web browsers.
4- Complaint PTCL to install new towers in your area to boost up the signals.

(PTCL hasn't put any upper cap on the download speed. That's why you may get 350kB/s + speed at 5 signals strength after midnight. I myself have experienced 450kB/s download speed (for just one second) at 4:00 AM.So it is the best USB Donggle Internet connection.

i totally agree... ptcl lied big time with evo.. we all agree that the technology is great, uve complete access to da net wid jus a usb, but the claim is total fraud.. i used a 1m connection and it was thousand times better.. da max ive gotten on evo is 150 kbps woh b bohat he rarelyyyyy... its definitely not for the high bandwidth user.. streaming as u guessed is very shity too.. thumbs up for da technology, evdo, but da performance although guzaara is defintitely wat dey claim it to be..

No, its not PTCL's fault that you don't know whats the difference between KB (kilobytes) and Kb (kilobits). Internet speeds are usually always listed in terms of bits. PTCL clearly stated that the average speed you'll get would be around 300-600 Kbps. So you getting 30-60 KB/s download speed is just about right.

Plus, how can a 3.1 Mbps connection download at 600 KB/s? Nobody lied to you.

Hello All.. Still many confused which wireless internet is best.. i have used Wateen, Wcall and PTCL. if you get a Wateen 1mb connection and has good signals you will get the speed of 1Mbit/s (124KB/s) .. but many would go for usb coz its easier to carry.. than evdo comes.. Wcall 1mb is quite expensive and last one year i have been using it.. its speed is also constant.. no disconnecting problem.. you just need to have good signals.. its speed is also what it promises.. with Wcall i got the highest speed of 130KB/s .. but it has the high ping problem.. only gamers can understand the ping shit.. anyway.. i got the PTCL EVO two days ago on demo of 5 days.. i got 90 % singnal strength .. and right now im using torrent and downloading with the speed of 160KB/s (early morning) .. normally peak time it still gives u the speed of 90KB/s .. for more satisfiction im posting the speed test results.. check them

Brother, if you are living in Evo's EVDO coverage area, please be sure that you have switched from CDMA mode to EVDO mode. Just open Broadband software, go to tools>options>network and shift your network to EVDO.....Thanks.

Well I dont think that we need to blame PTCL,, i just purchased evdo device the new one (red ZTE Model)..Yes i admit the speed is 0.5 Mbps inside rooms..i got a method by which my speed enhanced to 1.3-1.6Mbps. Just have a CD, DVD and atached it to opposite side of (where there is antena symbol) with something like tape and place its postion towards door or windows..Your speed will be enhance//

Yes that's right , i have bought also before 4 months they said it's a 3.1mb i got a prepaid package 1200 rpz monthly adding card to get 50 hours( 3000 minutes as well ) But the main thing Wireless setilite (the signals ) not a strong even i can't talk Through Voice chat on yahoo , it's Disconnecting and we have to reconnect after every 6 to 7 mintues.

I have a problem with it that most of the time internet is not connecting specially in Night timing. The error is "the remote computer did not respond".
And the speed I was getting is almost 112kbps-240kbps(14kBps-30kBps). PTCL is lieing to its customers.

I think that the private groups are paying PTCL officers to disrupt their (evo) service so that warid and worldcall could sell their connections. PTCL is a fraud ..... totally, like other government or semi-government organizations. evry thing in this country sucks.

They say "20 MAJOR CITIES". WTF? Peshawar isn't the major city? Why can't I see Peshawar in the list of coverage cities?

i am using evo for last three months. it was pretty good previously, but for about a month its quality of service is gone down a lot.now its speed is not more than a dial up speed even worse. i sent complaint to PTA on their web site but no reply. it looks PTA is also a Drama. i would suggest all users to complaint again and again on PTA web site and ask those Drama characters to give us reply.

Well I bought EVO two months ago. In my home, in sheikhupura, it gives me download average of 300 kbps. But with the same device, in lahore, it gives me just 50 to 70 kbps. I think it all depends upon the number of users at a given location.

I sent complaint about Evo to PTA earlier, and recieved the reply. But having seen no improvement rather worsening quality of sevice. I sent my complain again as under: I would suggest all consumers to send complaint to PTA on email given below, and raise your voice:

I sent you complaint about 7 weeks ago, you sent following reply. I hope the complaint was forwarded to PTCL, but the performance of Evo has not improved. It is getting worse with every passing day.
What is your complaint follow up procedure. You just forward it to concerned company, and then do nothing. Its not only me there are hundreds of customers facing this problem. If you simply see reviews on the other websites(like: bolta consumer) about Evo, you will be stunned, how PTCL is cheating the public. What is the role of PTA, at your website I have seen that one can launch complaint about any telecom company. But what is the outcome of complaint. One complaint may not be as important, but while there are hundreds of people suffering from it then i think PTA should play its role, this is what PTA is for.

I am using EVO at Jehanzeb Block, Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore, and facing tremandous signal problems. Please help to solve it out.

PTCL EVO is not a good choice , infact any USB Dongle is not a good choice until services won't increase more towers. PTCL EVO is Rs. 2000 per month, and speed is very compromise , check http://apnabroadband.blogspot.com , you may be find some other best alternative for your wireless broadband solution.

kb in small letters means kilobits. and KB in capital letter means kilobytes. it's not only ptcl who told you speed in kilobits. All the world speaks that way.
didn't your speed test show you that you are using .5 mbps connection? .5 means half. It means your net was giving half mb speed. Speed test websites also tell speed in bits.
you beleive that mb alaways means MegaByte. ok. you also beleive that speed test website is not run ptcl so they can't won't lie. ok?
then you should at least beleive in speed test which is telling that you are getting half mb connection. according to your speed test you are getting exactly 512kb speed.
why don't you learn some maths and convert .5 mb into kbs? or .5MB in KBs?

But aside ,its ur own Mistake and you should have Searched through Internet or Some other Media Abt 300 "kbps"

Actually we ,the common DSL Fans usually refer kbps as Kilo Byts per Second
And also Mbps as Mega "byte" per socond
But Reality is that it is killo "bit" per second and if you wanna calculate ur Download speed you have to divide it with 8
e.g 300/8=37.3 and that is also 10 to 8 Killo bytes less
from result.

I also bought ptcl evo two months back and its speed is only 15-20 kbps!!! i live in multan and have tried it in every are. it gives almost same speed everywhere except in a 800 metre radius of its tower. there it gives about 90 kbps and 180-200 kbps at night. Its video streaming is also extremely slow. i have used wateen previously and i think they are much better there speed is 110-140 download kbps and streaming is even faster. plus they charge only 1450rs for Usb and 1650 for Wimax device which can also support multi users and more than 4 people can use it at the same time. so Go To HELL evo!!!

it has been about 2 months since i have been using this EVDO. it doesn't seem to have a very good speed. at start it was quite good. but now it sucks. a few days back i tried to recharge it. but it showed no signals at all, though am not living in any remote area. itx Lahore. And still am unable to get signals. i called itx helpline they say that try changing your location,tried nthng seemdto be working. they told me to change itx mode to 1X.but that didn't work either.my point is, why the hell this product seems to have this problem when a customer given you a full payement?

look guys when i bought evo i was having the same problems but then i found out what to do..... look on the ground floor of my house i got speed varying from 30-70 kb but on the first floor it goes upto 300 kbs..
i am fully satisfied...
and if you dont get enough signals in your area then get an evo booster.... it costs 700rs. ull get it from hafiz center

Let me clarify a few misconceptions about wireless broadband in general and PTCL EVO in particular:

1. If you're getting 100KB/s, its actually 800Kbps (1 KB/s = 8Kbps). All DSL and mobile companies around the world offer speeds in kbps, not in KB/s

2. PTCL EVO is wireless broadband, just like mobile phones, its signal level will be different at different places. It has much larger coverage than other operators like Wateen, World call etc.

3. Speed at evenings is lesser than the speed at the morning, as the connection is shared amongst users (Just like mobile connections are shared, you receive network busy on Eids :-)

Yes, M-B-Ali has said correct. Plus, do not trust on the number of bars of signals you are getting. These are the arbitrary display of intensity of signals. Actual intensity can be different. There is the direct proportion between intensity of signals, and download speed.

A year back , my evo 3.1 mb used to work just fine , I mean i was able to watch any hd movie online. But now even when i play a video at 260 p . even it reqiures buffering .

There are lot of culprits setting in ptcl and not ready to listen their customer. After sales service is extremely poor. I believe no Government department performing well and ptcl is one of example hence we would suggest that people of Pakistan should boycott their product.

i have evo 3.1 mb.
if u most people who are discussing kilobyte and kilo bits are right then give me an answer,
often i download movies of differnt size like 600 mb , 700 mb or 1 gb.
with evo i got 400 kb/s and a movie of 700 mb downloaded withing 40 mins
ptcl is best service providers in pakistan,
infact mostely service providers like worldcall are also getting their link from ptcl.
coz the coming internet from international servers are the property of Pakistan Telecomunication's in our country
these days they are upgrading their servers so u are getting slow speed

Yes, we must not confuse ourselves in Kilobytes and Kilobits. All the broadband internet providers use these terms and infect it is in kilobits not in kilobytes.

Some people are selling PTCL EVO 3G 3.1Mbps device and also providing their customers Unlimited Download Volume Package* at Rs: 1199 and telling their customers that the package they are providing is 1Mbps. Infect, it is not 1Mbps rather it is 256Kbps.

For new customers it is quite difficult to judge from the speed of internet that it is a 1Mpbs package or 256Kbps package.

But PTCL is not providing any package with a speed of 1Mbps on its EVO 3G 3.1Mbps Device.
You can check PTCL web for a better know how of the packages being provided with the “EVO 3G 3.1Mbps Device”.
Although, as I have mentioned, the device is capable of 3.1Mbps but the package provided is actually 256Kbps with unlimited download volume.
This package is also sometimes referred to as “STUDENT PACKAGE” and actually it is not a student packge. This package is for anyone who uses PTCL EVO Device. There is no condition of “STUDENT” for this package.

My eVo Borad band MT No:533126766 is facing frequent disruption cuttingoff too many times no proper site opens,PTCL site also becomes a hour long incomplete exercise. speed is also only 153 kbs. When i boght evo it was like a Boom 300 Kbps for downloading it means i was getting exact 3 mbps but after sometime i saw im getting 60 kb im paying 2000 rs for this shit. thats why Pakistan is going down no one is sincere all are Dakaits down with you ptcl

I am using it in Gujrat. Well, the first week it worked well and after that its been about 2 months and i feel like using a dialup, thanks God i didn't closed my Wateen account as i am getting about 90K on wateen's 1 MB link and about 10K on PTCL 3.1 Evo Cloud. Its really a shame on PTCL

The discussion about PTCL's EVO is endless. I bought PTCL EVO (Huawei device) and used it in Faisalabad. It was getting 2 signals and speed was varying between 20-130kbps.
Then I came to Lahore and it catched 3 signals and speed varied between 20-300kbps.

Yesterday I PTCL EVO (ZTE device) and at the same place I'm getting no signal. So it depends on device too.

In evenings and early night, the speed is poorly slow while in early morning I got better speed.

Actually PTCL EVO is not consistent so not reliable for critical use.

I love the evo service, look I have upgraded to nitro, and I am getting committed speed about 1050 kbps average on 9.3 mbps.

sometimes issues arise but gets solved under any circumstances, but Call Center should be improved for better communication between company and clients.

I download movies, games of about 7 gb in only 45 mins using nitro normally, sometimes very good speed can do download in minimum time, like 700 MB in just 10 mins.
