I hate Wateen WiMAX. I hate everything about it.
The first time I applied for their services in March 2008 when I was living in the Cantt station area in Karachi. I went to the Teen Talwar franchise, gave them the post dated cheques, filled the forms and was handed a device. This device never became stable when I installed it at home. I called them up, an engineer came and checked. Yup, there were no signals at my location. I went back with the engineer to the office with the device to get it checked at the office and also get my coordinates checked. Guess what, the Cantt Station area was not facilitated by the network. They swiftly apologized, gave me abck my cheques, cancelled my form and sent me home. Now, why didn’t they know this when I was applying for a connection, when my address was stated on my form. Why did they have to waste my whole day for this?
The next time I applied for Wateen was when I moved to another place in Clifton. I got a pre-paid connection this time. And now this is what I observed / experience: -
a) First of all.. they lie when they say that I have a 5 GB download limit (also the same for Mobilink Infinity by the way). Actually its a 5GB data limit, as it also accounts for uploads as well.
b) Therefore, say if I was downloading a torrent which was 500 MB. Assuming that I had to atleast share back half of it means that I'll be spending 750 MB of my data limit on a 500 GB file!.
c) There signals suck and drop a lot.
d) They lack the additional services that might actually bring value to me.. such as online gaming or a movies / software archive.
e) They have restrictions on portability. I can't think of a sane reason of why I should not be able to use it all around Karachi, or use the device in Lahore for that matter.
If this thing is not portable, its useless. Whats the use of paying PKR 800 for 512 KBPS and a 5GB data limit when I can get a DSL connection with no data limit and a data rate of 1 MBPS in PKR 850 - PKR 1200? And that too without any installation charges. Even Neighbourhood cable waalas are better! They’re cheap, fast, and provide lots as mentioned in (d).
f) Their prepaid cards are far from easily available. And if they are available, not in the exact denomination of the amount I have to pay. For example, if my per month prepaid amount is PKR 800 (without taxes), there would be no card with the same denomination and therefore I would have to buy a PKR 1000 Wateen card. Or 8 W-Cards and scratch and enter all of them separately! Even the store guy was complaining that no one buys them.
g) Now this is the best part. I switched from Wateen to another connection a few months ago. Contemplating that I could use the Wateen connection at office, I decided to activate it. The call centre representative confirmed that there had been no usage from my connection and therefore my account balance, which was in minus would be set back to a positive value, subject to the condition that I pay PKR 2500 as a fee! I was further told that this would be adjusted as a positive balance in my account.
How ridiculous can this get? There's a consumer who abandoned your brand for another.. but still thought of a way to use your services, but you go on penalizing him for doing so and coming back to you? Bravo! Awesome! This was when I had it and threw away all contemplations of ever using their services again.
h) I received a call from them a few days ago saying that they have come up with a new offer in which the account balance of all the consumers who haven't been using their services will be set to zero and that all I had to do was recharge my account with PKR 800. By this now, I guess it has become obvious of the answer I may have bestowed them with.
However, some minutes later, I recieved an SMS stating "Dear Customer, All your previous line rents are made zero, please activate your Wateen account now and start fresh, to avail this offer just call 111365111".
Cute! But I'm not coming back. Not in a million years. :)

I agree with "Ali Hassan" regarding Wateen. They are having most unsatisfactory customer services and there is no check n balance.
I had also been victimised by Wateen. I had been using it for the last 6 months (512 K) but hardly got 126 KB, such a poor speed/service. I live at some posh area of lahore but still get such poor signals. I m amazd that y do people start biz like this if they do not hav enough resources. Our asshole Govt give them permission to play with citizens. Govt is only concerne with taxes.
Anyhow, here is my real story...
I had been using Wateen for internet and never ever made a single call out of it.
It was probably 13th of march, i paid my 800 Rs in advance (which was abt to be due on 16th) bcoz i wanted to avoid any disconnection.
Can u guys imagine, that on 16 march, i got disconnected form my services. I contacted the helpline and they asked me to pay my Rs 800 bill (which i already paid on 13th in advance). They accepted it but they said that i have consumed all amount in making calls from 13th to 16th of march.
Thay provided me some fake record as well.
Though i never ever made any single call out of it.
So i decided to stop using it and so i dint pay Rs 800 again.
In June 5, i got a call from Wateen recovery dept and they ased me my will about the connection. I asked them to pay back my security deposit after deducting the line rent of 4 months.... But they refused that since u hav s topped using yr connection, so security can't be refunded.
I also tried to send a complain thru their helpline but the reps dropped my call, most of the time....
I pray that WATEEN should get huge loss and so that they cud learn how to do biz...

Oh men, it was a bad scene with You ppl, but I don’t know why Wateen is doing this b/c this is not a way to retain their valuable customer. I think I m only satisfied customer of Wateen, when ever I made call at their CSC, got favorable response. Do you know, what my feelings at that time, I feel luckiest one, anyways I want to tell you I am very satisfied with Wateen, and always pray for upgrading their service

yes Same kind of experience... even reported to PTA they did nothing..Bad actually Worst customer service, service, billing .
This Company should be stopped and baned from operating.

I agree with u Ali Hasan, Wateen is on number two in providing worst services to its customers. I wish PTA to be acting more responsibly, as PTCL and Wateen are same in providing worst services.
